Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
 
This movie was delayed numerous times and had multiple reshoots before being released in 2020.  And honestly given all that, the film is just a giant magic trick filled with CGI spectacle with no point, weak performances and a thrown together story that takes you on a ride to nowhere.  It is not connected to any prior films either.
 
FUN FACT:  Josh Boone intended this film to be the first in a trilogy, with the second film to be an alien invasion movie featuring the alien mutant Warlock, and then the third and final installment to be a supernatural, apocalyptic horror movie based on the X-Men comic event "Inferno" (demons invade the Earth and Magik plays a major role). After Disney's purchase of Fox, all X-Men-related films in development were cancelled, including Boone's trilogy.
