After New York City receives a series of attacks from giant flying robots, a reporter teams up with a pilot in search of their origin, as well as the reason for the disappearances of famous scientists around the world.
 
Remember when Hollywood was just trying to save money & time by using actors in front of blue screens to tell its stories and the end product's special effects were only “special” at that time?...Well, this movie is one of their failures.
 
FUN FACT:  As Sky Captain and Polly Perkins fly submerged with "The Amphibious Squadron", they "overfly" a sunken steamer named "Venture". It's the ship used to bring King Kong (1933) to New York City. It even includes, on its deck, a cage large enough to confine Kong; implying perhaps that this is the original Skull Island.
