An ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more dangerous than he is.
This is a very long movie for a payoff at the end that is not worth the wait. This may have been a better mini-series rather than a film.
FUN FACT: Guillermo del Toro's film is not a remake of Nightmare Alley (1947), but a re-adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham's novel.
