A disgraced ex-cop seeks solace by moving to the woods, but his quiet life comes to an end when a private eye recruits him to investigate a murder.
 
Noir films always bother me because if they're not done correctly, then they lose me in the middle and that's when they start telling you the most important stuff.  This movie lost my attention and didn't get it back until the end, which was worth the wait...I guess.
 
FUN FACT:  In one scene, Mel Gibson tells Charlie Hunman that they are two sides of the same coin, opposites. This is some what true as Mel is an American playing an Englishman whereas Charlie is an Englishman playing an American. Contrary to popular belief Mel Gibson is from New York not Australia.
